S-4000 update using HyperTerminal in Windows. To update, connect your S-4000R remote cable between a Windows computer RS232 port and the S-4000S unit. Fire up HyperTerminal and set up your new session with these settings: SETTING ITEM value Baud rate : 11520 Data bit : 8 bit Parity : none Stop bit : 1 bit Flow : none Once your session starts, I recommended turning on Local Echo: File > Properties > Settings > ASCII Setup > Echo Typed Characters Locally On your S-4000S unit, press and hold the Mute Inputs button while booting up. You should see a menu pop up. Select 1: Update. Select 9: Update Main and Boot HyperTerminal will start do the "waiting for file" thing. Click Transfer > Send File. Browse for the V2.0 ecm_ewith_reac.bin file. Highlight it. Click Send. After done updating, Hyperterminal will ask for you to Init Setup Info? Hit the "Y" key to Initialize Setup. When done, it will prompt you to shut down the unit. Do it. Reboot while holding the Mute Inputs button. When the Menu appears, select 2: Service. Select 1: Version Number. Verify that Main Version is 2.0 Verify that your SI-AD and SO-DA cards show up as active. After verifying, you can shut the unit down. Roland Systems Group Scandinavia December, 2007
